A Transformational Professor

Dr. Randy Pausch (NTUSIFEers, expecting someone else? haha!), a computer science professor from Carnegie Mellon University, has inspired millions with his famous “The Last Lecture” by talking about how he achieved his childhood dreams and sharing his life lessons.

In 2006, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. By August last year, the cancer had spread to other internal organs and he was given a survival prognosis of 3–6 months.

A role model of humility and humour, I’m touched by his love for his family and inspired by his positive outlook and attitude of not taking anything in life for granted.

A 1-hour special on ABC:

My favourite excerpt from “The Last Lecture”:

“The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”
